Japanese firms continue summer promotion wave
Entities: Obon · Gindaco · Pepper Lunch · Shine Muscat Daifuku · Spaghetti no Panco
Overview
Retail, food‑service and telecom firms across Japan have kept midsummer discounts flowing throughout July and into August 2026. Following the July 21‑28 campaigns by Daily Yamazaki, FamilyMart, Lawson Store 100, Sushiro, Bexx Coffee and Watami, the wave broadened. In late June, Lawson Store 100 ran a buy‑one‑get‑one‑free voucher for Mitsuya orange squash (June 24‑30) and bundled lunch‑box discounts, while Origin Bento offered half‑price Chinese spring rolls (June 22‑28). Support Net reduced service fees for seniors (June 22‑Sept 28). Lawson also introduced low‑price no‑topping frozen ramen on June 30 and a new “Only Bento” line with coupons (June 24‑July 7). Shopping districts added instant‑reward sales: Osaka’s Sunriver Bachiri “Middle‑Season Big Sale” (June 28‑July 5) gave lottery tickets with ¥50 cash‑back, and Tokyo’s Sunroad “Summer Scratch Sale” (July 29‑Aug 13) distributed up to 80 000 scratch cards worth ¥8 million in vouchers. In July, Bexco Coffee’s “salt‑charge” bags, Gusto’s 26 %‑off coupons, CASETiFY’s Marvel cases, Washoku Sato’s larger meat portions, and NTT Docomo’s J‑League lottery continued the promotions. August saw Hankyu Hanshin’s Umeda Snoopy Festival (Aug 12‑25) and Kuse Fukushoten’s Summer Delicious Food Festival (until Aug 24). New food‑service offers included Nagomi no Komeya’s “Cool Shine Muscat Daifuku” confection and Matsuya’s “Cold Soup Set” (early August). Discount retailers Shimamura, Seiyu and tonkatsu chain Matsu no Ya kept deep‑price cuts through the month. July added frozen‑gyoza deals – Sapporo Gyōza’s Super‑Large Corn Gyoza (¥1,280) and Fukuchan Ramen’s 18‑piece pack (¥390) – both through end‑July. Fast‑food discounts came from Origin Kitchen (pork‑loin skewer ¥108) and Tenya (Jōten Don ¥600) 13‑19 July. Ryujin Village’s “Eat and Go!” receipt‑draw (June‑Sept) and Kappa Sushi’s 16‑20 July voucher draw offered reduced set‑menu prices. Lawson Store 100 froze prices on ~70 staples to 30 Sept; Sushiro sold salmon and eel sushi for ¥110.
