Additionally, a wound on his left ankle resulting from skin cancer and radiation treatments has not yet healed. Most recently, Ross underwent biopsies on seven or eight moles on his back following a dermatologist appointment; he expects results in approximately 10 days. Regarding other medical concerns, Ross noted that doctors believe a mass recently discovered on his kidney is not cancerous and should be easy to treat if necessary. In late September, Ross expressed a goal to return to the AEW commentary desk for the All Out event on September 26, noting that the shorter travel distance from Oklahoma City to Chicago made it more manageable than previous international travel. In October, Ross was hospitalized for a chest infection that caused low oxygen levels. Following a CT scan that revealed bleeding, he underwent a second brain procedure on October 7 to address issues with the shunt.
