Indonesia Danantara housing initiative expands
Entities: Rosan Roeslani · Danantara · State-owned property developers · Khairul Anam · Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal (BKPM)
Overview
In late July 2026 Indonesia’s investment ministry announced the Danantara Housing programme, a plan to market unsold homes and apartments built by state‑owned enterprises (BUMN). The launch included a scheduled exhibition at the Presidential Complex and highlighted broader government efforts to streamline BUMN assets across multiple sectors.
On 31 July, Danantara detailed a consolidation plan for financially stressed state‑owned property firms. The agency will merge the developers, resolve their debts through the PKPU restructuring process, and record asset impairments before calculating a unified inventory of unsold public‑housing units for coordinated marketing. State‑owned banks under the Himbara umbrella will provide lower‑cost mortgage products to support the sales drive.
The following day, the government linked the initiative to the “Program Tiga Juta Rumah” target of three million affordable homes. State‑owned Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) expanded mortgage financing via the FLPP, using digitalised procedures that can release funds within three to five days, and had disbursed about Rp 4.1 trillion toward a Rp 10 trillion goal. Danantara’s new platform will market more than 200 000 units from both state‑owned and private developers, offering down‑payments as low as 1 % and loan terms of up to 30 years, a package welcomed by younger buyers.
