Overview

Since June 2026 Italian police have conducted coordinated anti‑theft operations nationwide. Early actions stopped a robbery in Terni and recovered a stolen car and cosmetics, leading to the arrest of two Romanians linked to Perugia burglaries. A traffic stop on the A1 near Rome uncovered cash, phones and about 700 g of gold tied to a fraud victim. Similar interventions halted youths stealing backpacks on a beach in Meta and detained two foreigners for a fuel‑station robbery in Terni. Kidnapping‑related arrests occurred in Rome’s Pietralata district and at a bus stop in Perugia, though the Gambian suspect was later released. At a Napoli Pride concert three men were arrested for attempted sexual assault, and a beach robbery near Savona resulted in three Moroccan arrests. In Turin, five Albanian men were detained for a series of home burglaries and a 46‑year‑old was caught tampering with a parked vehicle. On the night of 5 July Metronotte patrols in Bari province intervened in four theft attempts across Corato, Ruvo di Puglia and the Terlizzi‑Molfetta road, disrupting vehicle tampering and house‑breaking attempts. The next day Carabinieri Nucleo Radiomobile captured three gang members attempting a break‑in at a dental clinic in Turin. Separate home‑burglary incidents were reported in Francavilla al Mare and Montese. On 6 July Carabinieri in Rimini arrested a 22‑year‑old Egyptian who stole a gold necklace, seizing a weapon and hashish; a Bologna traffic stop led to the arrest of two Tunisian men, one linked to a January attempted homicide and the other found with cocaine. On 22‑23 July Carabinieri and local surveillance in Campomarino, Molise, foiled a tractor theft, recovering the vehicle, while in Vitulazio, Caserta, they intercepted suspects, arresting two Albanian men and seizing radio equipment; a third accomplice remains at large.
